The PRS is an easy system to learn and use. The fastest way to learn the PRS is by familiarising yourself with the Getting Started Guide and online documentation (in the PRS Help menu) coupled with your own hands-on exploration and experimentation
Since it is not prudent to let a new user experiment on live company data we have provided a single user demonstration PRS version that comes complete with its own set of data for the fictitious Foobar Recruitment Company.
The PRS Demo version can be installed (independently) on the same PC as the licensed version and provides a safe sandbox for exploration and experimentation. You will find the PRS Demo setup program on your PRS CD-ROM or it can be downloaded from the PRS Web site.
If you are learning the PRS by yourself we suggest that you:
| 1. | First skim read this document. |
| 2. | Familiarise yourself with the PRS using the PRS demonstration version to carry out day-to-day tasks. |
| 3. | Don't be afraid to try things out, particularly if you are using the demonstration version. |
Here are the most important tips for the beginner (there is a section devoted to Tips at the end of this document):
| • | You won't be able to enter data on the main forms unless you first unlock them (by pressing the Lock/Unlock button  or F4 shortcut key). |
| • | When you are unsure what a text entry field, list or button does, position the mouse pointer over it and wait for a couple of seconds. Many form-based controls pop up a 'control tip' containing a brief description of the control when the mouse pointer is positioned over them. |
| • | Goto buttons  are used extensively to navigate PRS data, they normally take you to detailed information about the associated item. |
| • | Use the Records->Refresh Form Lists (CTRL+R) menu command to add newly created personnel and sites into drop-down lists (for more details see the Tips section). |
