Why is there a discrepancy between billings on the Placements Analysis and Consultant Billings reports?

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

If you print a Placements Analysis report and a Consultant Billings report for the same set of dates you may notice that the total billings for a consultant differ between the two reports when there are vacancies with more than one invoice.

The reason for this behavior is that the Placements Analysis report is vacancy based and all invoices for a vacancy are grouped together based on the date of the oldest invoice for the vacancy (see the notes at the bottom of the Placements Analysis report), whereas the Consultant Billings report is invoice based and the individual invoice dates are used.

For example, if a vacancy has two invoices, one dated March and a second dated April, then:

The March Placements Analysis report would include both invoices whereas the March Consultant Billings report would only include the March invoice.
The April Placements Analysis report would include neither invoices (because the oldest invoice for the vacancy fell in March) whereas the April Consultant Billings report would only include the April invoice.
