There are a couple of reasons why some Microsoft Word documents are skipped with an log message exit status 1:
| 1. | The document indexer cannot index RTF (Rich Text Format) documents. Don't be fooled by a .doc fiile name extension, it may still be an RTF file. All you need to do to get round the problem is convert the document to Microsoft Word format: open open the document in Microsoft Word, select Save As... from the File menu and set the Save as type to Microsoft Word (*.doc). |
| 2. | Password protected Microsoft Word documents cannot be indexed, you need to save the document without a password. |
